The Persona: Sun in Capricorn
Sun in Capricorn is the sign of the builder, and it lends a chart a surprising calm beneath any flamboyance. This Sun does not improvise for the sake of it; it plans, refines and returns to the work until the shape is right. Mercury in Capricorn, in the same sign as the Sun, reinforces that: a mind that is exact, dry-humoured and wary of wasted words. For an artist known for changing costumes and characters, the interpretive point is that the changes can be read as deliberate design rather than whim. Capricorn tends to treat identity as a project with a long horizon, built layer by layer, and to value mastery over applause. The cost of this Sun can be reserve: a cool surface that keeps people at the edge of the real person. As interpretation of the date of birth, it describes a temperament that is disciplined, observant and quietly ambitious, not a claim about private life.
The Empire: Saturn in Leo, Jupiter in Scorpio, Mars in Capricorn
Ambition is the strongest thread in this chart. Mars in Capricorn is a very efficient drive: it does not burn out in flashes but works toward a goal, conserving energy and choosing its battles. Jupiter in Scorpio adds the appetite for depth, a taste for the dark, the taboo and the transformative, and a willingness to reinvent oneself completely rather than expand politely. Saturn in Leo asks that creative expression be earned: the stage is treated as a serious craft, with standards that do not relax. Pluto in Leo, in the same sign as Saturn, adds a theme of power and identity being rebuilt through visibility. Read together, the pattern suggests an empire made not of luck but of repeated, deliberate self-transformation, in which the personal brand is something to be forged. This is symbolic interpretation, and it says nothing certain about outcomes.
The Magnetism: Venus in Sagittarius, Moon in Cancer or Leo
Venus in Sagittarius is the planet of attraction in the sign of the traveller, and it points to charm that comes from curiosity: an openness to other cultures, ideas and aesthetics, and a taste for the theatrical and the foreign. Lilith in Sagittarius, mentioned only as a minor note, echoes the refusal to be fenced in. The Moon changes sign on this birth day and the time is not verified, so it must be read as Cancer or Leo. The Cancer reading would be protective and private; the Leo reading, warm, proud and drawn to an audience. Either way, the emotional life carries a need to be recognised. Neptune in Libra gives the whole picture a glamorous, dreamlike polish, a feeling for beauty as atmosphere. The combined interpretation is magnetism built on mystery: a person who seems to offer a new world while holding something back.
The Dark Side: Distance and Control
The tensions of this chart come from the same discipline that powers it. Sun in Capricorn and Mars in Capricorn can harden into control, a need to manage every detail, and an impatience with spontaneity in others. The coolness that gives the persona its mystique may also create emotional distance, so that closeness is held at arm's length. Pluto in Leo and Saturn in Leo can turn the need for recognition into a heavy self-demand: a fear of being ordinary, a perfectionism about image. Jupiter in Scorpio brings intensity that may tip into restlessness or a pull toward extremes. None of this is a judgement. It is the map of where a person with these placements might feel pressure, and where self-awareness would help most.
"Bowie's chart reads as a builder disguised as a shapeshifter: Capricorn discipline underneath, Sagittarius curiosity on the surface and a Leo stage in the background. It is an interpretation of the date, not a prediction."
