Major Arcana 17
The Star: tarot card meaning

What the card shows
A woman kneels by a pond with one foot in the water and pours from two jugs: one into the pond, the other onto the land, where the water spreads into small streams. Above her hang a large yellow eight-pointed star and seven smaller white ones. A bird sits in a tree on the right.

Upright meaning
hope, renewal, inspiration, trust, clarity
The Star brings a sense of daylight after a hard stretch. The figure pours water from two jugs, one back into the pond and one onto the ground, and nothing is wasted. The card draws attention to hope that returns quietly: you start planning again, pick up the neglected thing, allow yourself to think it could work. Say that after a string of setbacks you reopen an abandoned project and suddenly see how to finish it. The card also remembers loss: hope often arrives after something has been lost, which is part of why it matters. It suggests protecting this light and not demanding fast results from it.
Reversed meaning
arrogance, helplessness, disappointment, lost faith, closing off
Reversed, the Star is linked to arrogance and helplessness. The first looks like certainty that you already know everything and need no support. The second feels as if you have no strength for anything and the stars hang too far away. Perhaps a refusal disappointed you and you stopped looking ahead. Check where the mood comes from: tiredness, resentment, or a habit of expecting the worst. A small step with no promise attached sometimes helps: call someone, begin with ten minutes.
In love and relationships
In love the Star speaks of openness and gentle trust. You may be ready to let someone closer after a time of keeping your distance. Honesty helps here: say aloud what you would like to build together. Reversed, it may reflect disappointment or superiority: you decided in advance that closeness has nothing to offer, or you look down on your partner. Ask what you are really afraid of.
At work
At work the card relates to returning inspiration and a clear direction. You may have found an idea that fits your values, or a mentor who reminded you why you do this. It suggests acting patiently and sharing what you know. Reversed, it points to flagging energy and self-doubt, and also to overconfidence that keeps you from asking for feedback. Find someone you trust and show them your work.
A question for yourself
