A full Moon across from the Sun
At the start the Sun is in Scorpio at 2°25′, early in the sign of depth and intensity, and the Moon stands almost opposite it, in Aries at 27°52′, in the full phase. A full Moon in symbols is a moment of maximum light and maximum contrast: what was building becomes visible, and feelings run brighter and louder than usual. Here the Moon is in Aries, the sign of the first move and the open reflex, in its late degrees, so the lunar light has a quick, direct tone against the private, concentrated Sun in Scorpio. The Grand Prix has been held on and off since 1908, and at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin every year since 2012, with only 2020 missing.
Mars in Leo, five planets turning back
Mars is in Leo at 15°28′, direct, and Jupiter in Leo at 23°32′ stands in the same sign, so the two planets of drive and growth share the sign of display. Mercury in Scorpio at 20°49′ is retrograde, and so is Venus in Libra at 29°43′, at the very end of its sign. Saturn in Aries at 9°41′ and Neptune in Aries at 2°13′ are retrograde, as is Uranus in Gemini at 4°53′, while Pluto in Aquarius at 3°05′ moves direct. Five of the eight planets in the table are retrograde: Mercury, Venus, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. In symbols that is a sky of second looks, where thought and taste both double back before moving on.
Lindblad and Gasly under Mars
Two natal Suns are touched. Transiting Mars sits almost exactly on Arvid Lindblad's natal Sun, a conjunction with an orb of just 0.08°, a symbol of energy poured directly onto the core of the chart. Pierre Gasly's natal Sun meets transiting Mars in opposition with an orb of 2.5°, a symbol of friction and a strong sense of being challenged from across the chart. These are the only two natal Suns in the table that the sky touches. Both touches come from the same planet, so the picture stays simple: one planet, two people, two very different angles, one almost exact and one wider. They are tendencies in symbols, not promises about the race.
